Welcome

As Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, I serve as the chief academic officer and provide leadership for campus administrative operations. I work closely with Chancellor Munoz and his leadership team, vice provosts, school deans and other campus leaders in guiding the planning, development, implementation and assessment of all academic initiatives, as well as the infrastructure to support campus academic objectives. These activities are carried out in partnership with the Academic Senate under UC Merced’s principles of shared governance.

UC Merced is at a pivotal point in its development as a research university. We have achieved “R2” designation within the Carnegie Classification of institutions of higher education in record time--only 10 years. I am committed to supporting our faculty, staff and students as we continue on this exciting trajectory of growth and development. As we move toward realizing the goals of our 2020 initiative, UC Merced will continue to be a destination of choice for faculty, graduate and undergraduate students and will serve as an anchor educational institution for the San Joaquin Valley.

I invite you to explore the initiatives we are engaged in that support our faculty, students, the university and the Valley community.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth (Betsy) Dumont.

A message from the new Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost Betsy Dumont to the UC Merced Community; Together, Boldly Forward.
